Submissions Guidelines:
Into Mountains, Over Streams, regularly accepts unsolicited submissions from professional and amateur writers. For a good sense of our style and content, it is best to read the journal itself. After that, here are some ideas to assist you in pitching stories to our editors: we are looking for articles that fall under the broad concept of “Qigong and Taiji Culture.”
Beyond the arts, culture is often defined as the beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior of a particular nation or people. In that sense, we are not only looking for articles on traditions, histories, teacher profiles, practices, and media reviews; but on innovations, new approaches and applications, as well as anecdotal stories about your communities.
Though the last may seem the least news-worthy, it is the most interesting. We believe the stories of folks, in quiet corners of the world, improving their health, wellbeing, and prosperity with these practices are sometimes more important than the teachers who introduced them to their practice.
Pitching your story: The most efficient way to submit a query is via email, to the general editorial address given below. We consider both completed articles and pitches. Simultaneous submissions are fine as long as we are notified. Mailed submissions may not receive a reply.
In addition, IMOS-Journal requests that all submissions be properly cited. We suggest the MLA, APA, or Chicago style systems. Hold on to clips and any other large attachments, unless specifically requested by our editors.
Rights: If your piece is accepted, we will require a signed contract before publication. “Into Mountains, Over Streams” acquires non-exclusive, one-time, publication rights to accepted pieces. Authors continue to own the rights and are free to sell or license the 'Work' elsewhere. Although, we retain the right to keep the material archived on the site for no more than five years.
Payment: There are no payments for unsolicited material. As the journal grows we hope to be able to offer payments and honorariums in the future. Payments for solicited material will be handled on an individual basis.
To submit material:
Please send ideas for stories, reviews, PSA's, and press releases to editor[at]imos-journal.com. Deadlines for all editorial submissions is the 25th of each month.
